该三集迷你剧根据盖伊·莱昂·普雷菲尔著作《闹鬼凶宅》改编，由克里斯托弗·尼霍姆执导，该导演曾参与制作戴恩的《谋杀》、拉斯·冯·提尔的《白痴》和《破浪而出》。
超自然现象研究学者普雷菲尔花费大量时间研究二十世纪七十年代在恩菲尔德地区发生的所谓凶宅闹鬼事件，于1980年首次出版该书。
在该剧中，普雷菲尔由麦克菲登扮演，他的研究伙伴莫里斯·格鲁斯由斯派尔出演。斯泰文森将出演格鲁斯的妻子贝蒂。
该剧2014年秋季于伦敦开拍，今年五月在Sky电视台生活频道播出。
