爱丽丝（达科塔·约翰逊 Dakota Johnson 饰）和男友之间的感情走到了尽头，为了给这段恋情寻找新的可能性，她决定暂时离开男友，离开家乡，前往纽约闯荡。罗宾（瑞贝尔·威尔森 Rebel Wilson 饰）的个性大大咧咧，白天，她是法律事务所里衣着得体的小助理，每当夜幕降临，她便会摇身一变，成为夜场里最闪亮的女王。
